  42. I have a 28.8K ComStar and Bitware and I have, after some fiddling,
  43. managed to get the voice mail and distinctive ring working
  44. satisfactorily.  We don't have CID available here yet so I don't know
  45. whether that will work or not. The main points I found to getting it
  46. up and going was the need for Memory. The help says that it will run
  47. on a machine with 8meg that maybe true but don't try running anything
  48. else! I have 16 Meg and found Bitware unreliable until I turned off
  49. the Screen Saver. The other unsatisfactory aspect of the setup was the
  50. background noise of the speaker, also the poor quality of the
  51. recordings either from a remote caller when leaving you a message or
  52. when recording system messages locally, I was able to gain significant
  53. improvements by shielding the modem card from the video card. This was
  54. simply done by sandwiching some aluminium foil between two pieces of
  55. cardboard using adhesive and then attaching this to the underside of
  56. the modem card.
